Rise LettersLetter 02
Whose voice are you listening to?
Beth Hobbs
Beth’s second Rise Letter. When fear and other voices get loud, Jesus still gets the final say: don’t be afraid, just believe.
This week’s question
Hi lovely,
I am starting this week’s Letter by asking us all a question.
Whose voice are you listening to?
So many voices
I’ve been thinking about this because there are SO many voices coming at us every day.
Other people’s opinions, social media, our own thoughts.
And then there’s that little voice of fear that always seems to have something to say, doesn’t it?
What if it doesn’t work?
What will people think?
Who do you think you are?
Don’t be afraid; just believe
It reminds me of the story of Jairus. He’d gone to Jesus desperate for Him to help his daughter. And while they were on their way, people came from Jairus’ house and basically said:
It’s too late. Don’t bother Jesus anymore.
But Jesus heard them and said:
“Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
I love that.
One voice said, it’s over.
Jesus said, keep believing.
Turn His voice up
And I wonder whether some of us need to decide which voice we’re going to give the most volume to this week.
Because fear can be loud.
Other people’s opinions can be loud.
Our own doubts can be VERY loud!
But they don’t get the final say — Jesus does.
So maybe this week we need to turn down some of the other noise and turn His voice up a little louder.
Gather. Grow. Go.
Gather
Who are the people in your life who remind you of truth when your own thoughts get noisy?
Grow
Read Mark 5:21–43 and notice what Jesus says before anything changes.
Go
When fear speaks this week, answer it with what Jesus says.
Before you go
Whatever you’re carrying this week, keep coming back to His voice.
And if you need someone to remind you to keep believing — consider this me doing exactly that.
I’m cheering you on.
See you next week.
Love, Beth x
